NIH has announced a Request for Information (RFI) to solicit ideas for potential NIH Common Fund programs. Common Fund program categories include Transformational Science and Discovery, Catalytic Data Resources, and Re-engineering the Research Enterprise.

NCI has reissued a Funding Opportunity Announcement soliciting applications for a Data, Evaluation, and Coordinating Center (DECC) for the Connecting Underrepresented Populations to Clinical Trials program (CUSP2CT). Letters of Intent are due February 26, 2022, and applications are due March 28, 2022.

Cancer data scientists, staff scientists in labs, and core facilities managers (as well as others) can apply for up to five years of salary support through the NCI Research Specialist (R50) Award. This award enables outstanding scientists autonomy and the ability to continue to make progress in their cancer studies. Applications for this award are due by November 1, 2021.

The NIH Office of Data Science Strategy recently announced four Notices of Special Interest for administrative supplemental funding. Supplement applications are due May 2021.

NCI is soliciting applications for the reissuance of its Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC) program. One of the Funding Opportunity Announcements, titled “Proteogenomic Data Analysis Centers for CPTAC,” should be of particular interest to the data science community since awardees will have the chance to develop computational tools for the analysis, integration, and visualization of CPTAC data.

The Childhood Cancer Data Initiative invites researchers capable of performing molecular characterizations (e.g., whole exome sequencing, RNA sequencing) to submit a proposal to develop a childhood cancer molecular characterization protocol by April 12, 2021.

NCI is offering administrative supplements for the adaptation and repackaging of existing broad-based visualization methods that have the potential to make Cancer Moonshot-aligned data more explorable and interpretable by the broader cancer research community.
