NCI is pleased to announce that, moving forward, ITCR funding opportunities will allow the use of URLs and hyperlinks in applications.

NIH and the National Science Foundation are participating in an interagency funding opportunity that seeks to address technological and data science challenges, which require fundamental research and development of new tools, workflows, and methods. Proposals are due Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. (submitter’s local time).

Requests for applications (RFAs) have been reissued by the NCI Informatics Technology for Cancer Research program. The RFAs, aimed at successive stages of informatics technology, are for algorithm development, prototyping and hardening, enhancement and dissemination, and sustainment.

The NCI R50 Award encourages the development of stable research career opportunities for exceptional scientists who want to pursue research within the context of an existing cancer research program, but not serve as independent investigators.

A new Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), “Genomic Data Analysis Network: Genomic Data Analysis Center (U24 Clinical Trial Not Allowed),” is soliciting applications for highly collaborative Genome Data Analysis Centers that will form the Genomic Data Analysis Network. Applications are due Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. ET.

The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) is encouraging investigators with diverse expertise in genetics, genomics, and data science to join the Impact of Genomic Variation on Function (IGVF) Consortium. Applications will be supported by funding opportunity announcements (FOAs), and investigators will be asked to develop a framework for systematically understanding the effects of genomic variation on genome function and how these effects shape phenotypes.

NCI's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Development Center is now accepting proposals for contracts of interest to the data science field. One topic is aimed at developing cloud-based imaging and multi-omic tools and another is seeking de-identification solutions for NCI's Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC). Applications are due by Monday, October 26, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. ET. The NIH Common Fund’s Harnessing Data Science for Health Discovery and Innovation in Africa (DS-I Africa) Program has published four Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs). In addition, the corresponding DS-I Africa Virtual Symposium Platform will be open July–November 2020 to provide networking tools and online events to participants.

NIH's Common Fund recently issued Notices of Intent to Publish Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) for its new program, Harnessing Data Science for Health Discovery and Innovation in Africa (DS-I Africa). In addition, NIH is hosting a DS-I Africa Virtual Symposium Platform as part of this new program's launch that will include information about the FOAs and engage participants in robust scientific sessions that examine the state of data science in Africa.

Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research requests proposals to develop a query engine called the Cancer Data Aggregator (CDA). The CDA will allow users to aggregate data via queries across the Human Tumor Atlas Network, the NCI Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC) nodes, and other Data Coordinating Centers and repositories with which NCI plans to interoperate.
