The NCI Research Specialist (R50) Award supports exceptional data scientists, staff scientists, and core facility managers pursuing cancer research within an existing NCI-funded research program. The R50 Award recognizes the importance of the research specialist to the cancer research enterprise by enabling these outstanding scientists to have sustainable cancer research careers and continue to make progress in cancer studies.

The R50 Award provides financial support to scientists so they may work autonomously and advance their careers without fully depending on NCI grants held by others. The award provides up to 5 years of salary support as well as annual travel funds.
