The NCI's Cancer Research Data Commons' Proteomic Data Commons (PDC) has new data from the Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium’s lung squamous cell carcinoma and uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma studies.

NCI is launching the Cancer Moonshot℠ Seminar Series on September 24, 2020. The series will showcase the research progress from different Cancer Moonshot initiatives that support the 10 recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Panel report, including data sharing.

The latest repository in the NCI Cancer Research Data Commons, the Integrated Canine Data Commons (ICDC), has launched! The ICDC offers cloud-based public access to canine cancer data and with its connection to the NCI Cloud Resources, allows researchers to leverage over 1,000 analytics tools and pipelines for high-powered cloud computing and analysis.

Drs. Daoud Meerzaman of NCI’s Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology (CBIIT) and Barbara K. Dunn of NCI’s Biometry Research Group recently served as Guest Editors for a special virtual issue of the journal, Frontiers in Oncology. This collection of articles shows how ‘omics data are helping scientists to better understand the prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer. The issue explores the full range of ‘omics findings, from identifying biomarkers for diagnosing and treating cancer, to uncovering the mechanisms for disease.

NCI Director Dr. Ned Sharpless shared an update on the Childhood Cancer Data Initiative (CCDI) and how it is leveraging data science and data sharing to rapidly improve treatments for childhood, adolescent, and young adult cancers.

The NCI Cancer Research Data Commons’ Genomic Data Commons (GDC) has released a new set of data from NCI programs and partners including the Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC) and the Human Cancer Models Initiative (HCMI).

CBIIT Director Dr. Tony Kerlavage participated in the National Cancer Policy Forum's workshop "Applying Big Data to Address the Social Determinants of Health in Oncology." The proceedings, which were recently published, illustrate how Dr. Kerlavage and other leading experts are working to identify novel ways to collect, curate, analyze, and use social determinants of health (SDOH) data to address health disparities related to cancer research and outcomes.

The NCI Proteomic Data Commons (PDC) has new data from the Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC) and the International Cancer Proteogenome Consortium (ICPC) - Taiwan Lung Adenocarcinoma (LUAD) studies. This release contains open-access proteomic data for 213 lung cancer cases.

The NCI Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC) launched a new website, datacommons.cancer.gov, for data scientists, informaticists, and researchers to explore, learn, and engage with the CRDC and its resources.

Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNLCR) awarded a contract to develop the National Cancer Institute's (NCI's) Cancer Data Aggregator (CDA) to a consortium led by the Broad Institute, Institute for Systems Biology, Seven Bridges Genomics, and General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), Inc. The CDA is a query engine that will help researchers to find, sort, and pull together data from across the NCI Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC), NCI Data Coordinating Centers (DCC), and other repositories.
