Ian Fore, D.Phil.

Senior Biomedical Informatics Program Manager

Dr. Ian Fore is a senior biomedical informatics program manager at CBIIT, specializing in integrating data from both basic and clinical science. His current contributions focus on the core components of the Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC), which enable data integration, topics such as subject and specimen data, identifiers, and data aggregation. Beyond the technology, interoperability is also about how humans work together, and Dr. Fore leads CBIIT’s One Team One Mission program to enhance collaboration within and between projects.

Dr. Fore previously led CBIIT’s programs in biorepository and pathology informatics. He contributed to the NIH Big Data to Knowledge initiative and the NIH Data Commons Pilot Phase Consortium.

Before joining NCI, Dr. Fore worked on local and global research databases in the pharmaceutical industry. As a senior product manager at Celera, he was responsible for the APIs that allowed customers to access the company’s genomics’ data. Prior to leaving a cardiovascular lab for an informatics career, Dr. Fore studied for a B.Sc. at the University of Birmingham, UK, received his doctorate in physiology at the University of Oxford, and subsequently worked as a research pharmacologist.
