Current Role
Current Role
I specialize in integrating data from both basic and clinical science. I am currently on a detail at the National Library of Medicine’s National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) working on how the products of Medical Genomics and Variation group work together with external groups.
NCBI resources such as the database of Genotypes and Phenotypes (dbGaP) are used by the Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC). This work includes interactions with NIH Institutes and Centers through the NIH Cloud Platforms Interoperability initiative, of which both CRDC and NCBI are a part.
More broadly, I participate in global groups including the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health and Health Level Seven, which are used by the NIH initiatives. These efforts focus on topics such as subject and specimen data, identifiers, and data aggregation. Beyond the technology, interoperability is also about how humans work together, and my work includes enhancing collaboration within and between projects.
