AACR Annual Meeting 2022: NCI Data Science Event Sessions and Posters
This year’s American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting (centered around decoding cancer complexity, integrating science, and transforming patient outcomes) brings the cancer research community together to share the latest advances in cancer, including several data science-related opportunities.
Participants attending in-person or virtual are invited to join the following:
April 8, 2022, 12:00–1:00 p.m. CST
(Poster) NCI’s CPTAC: A proteogenomic cancer analysis program | This poster will illustrate NCI’s CPTAC and how its programs use proteogenomics to better understand the molecular makeup of cancer. CPTAC also supports the development of computational tools for processing and analyzing proteogenomic data. Data from CPTAC are made publicly available for the research community in the Proteomic Data Commons, Genomic Data Commons, and The Cancer Imaging Archive. | NCI Presenters: Mehdi Mesri, Ph.D., Eunkyung An, Ph.D., Tara Hiltke, Ph.D., Ana I. Robles, Ph.D., Henry Rodriguez, Ph.D.
April 9, 2022, 2:30–4:00 p.m. CST
(Education Session) Big Data Resources in Pediatric Cancer | The complexity and rarity of pediatric cancers require big data resources to enable discovery for improved clinical outcomes. This session will assemble data scientists, oncologists, and researchers to learn about existing pediatric data resources, discuss data sharing challenges, and highlight current data science research efforts, including NCI’s Childhood Cancer Data Initiative.
April 10, 2022, 4:00–5:00 p.m. CST
(NCI-Sponsored Session) NCI Resource: Informatics Tools and Training Opportunities | NCI’s Informatics Technology for Cancer Research (ITCR) program supports the development of informatics tools to manage and analyze cancer data. In this session, learn about these open-source informatics tools as well as free educational/training resources that can help researchers integrate informatics approaches into their work. Early-stage data scientists can also hear about opportunities with the Big Data Scientist Training Enhancement Program. | NCI Presenters: Kelly Crotty, Ph.D. (moderator); Juli Klemm, Ph.D., Michelle Berny-Lang, Ph.D.
April 11, 2022, 3:00–3:45 p.m. CST
NCI Director’s Address | NCI Presenter: Dr. Ned Sharpless
April 12, 2022, 4:00–5:00 p.m. CST
(NCI-Sponsored Session) NCI’s Cloud Resources: Analyzing Data in the Cloud | In this session, the three NCI Cloud Resources (ISB’s Cancer Gateway in the Cloud, Seven Bridges’ Cancer Genomics Cloud, and Broad’s FireCloud) will demonstrate their portals, tools, and workflows for analyzing data in NCI’s Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC). | CBIIT Presenters: Tanja Davidsen, Ph.D.; Tony Kerlavage, Ph.D. (moderator)
