Medical Image De-Identification Webinar
Dr. David Clunie, the chairperson of the Medical Imaging De-Identification Initiative (MIDI) Task Group, summarizes the group’s forthcoming report that describes best practices for image de-identification.
Members of the MIDI Task Group come from academic institutions and professional organizations. The group reviews strategies for removing Personally Identifiable Information and Protected Health Information to prepare images for secondary sharing. The work focuses on Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM). The webinar will give attendees the opportunity to learn more about important findings from the task group.
The monthly NCI IICW is organized by the Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology and the Cancer Imaging Program. During the first Monday of every month, this event features scientific presentations and project updates. Dr. Clunie is a radiologist, medical informaticist, DICOM open-source software author, and editor of the DICOM standard. He was formerly the co-chair of the IHE Radiology Technical Committee and industry co-chairman of the DICOM Standards Committee. He serves as member or chairman of several of the DICOM working groups, including structured reporting, digital x-ray, compression, interchange media, base standard, display, mammography, clinical trials, preclinical small animal imaging, digital pathology, and conformance.
