Fourth RAS Initiative Symposium
A 4th international symposium on RAS genes and proteins will take place at NCI’s Advanced Technology Research Facility in Frederick, MD, on October 17–19, 2022.
Of particular interest to data scientists will be a discussion on “ADMIRRAL—High Performance Computing Meets RAS/FAF Biology at the Membrane,” presented by Dwight Nissley, Ph.D., Director of Cancer Research and Technology Program in NCI’s Frederick National Laboratory.
The 3-day event is part of NCI’s RAS Initiative, a network of scientists from government, academia, and industry who are collaborating to find new and better treatments for RAS-driven cancers.
More than one-third of all human cancers are driven by mutations in the RAS gene family. This is an area of intense study for NCI. Data science initiatives addressing RAS also include the Cancer Distributed Learning Environment, which is using open source, deep learning software platforms to accelerate the use of artificial intelligence in addressing multiple cancer research areas; and a pilot project conducted under the Joint Design of Advanced Computing Solutions for Cancer.
