Fourteen Years of Open Data Sharing—The Cancer Imaging Archive (TCIA)

May 14, 2025 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. ET
Virtual

Join Dr. Fred Prior of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences to learn how researchers are using TCIA to promote cancer research reproducibility and reduce research costs by large scale data reuse.

During this event, Dr. Prior will highlight the impact and reach of TCIA, including how it:

  • offers de-identification and curation tools that are recognized by many institutions as global best practices, with its open-source software stack adopted by multiple institutions.
  • serves as a recognized data publisher for a growing array of scientific journals.
  • supports multiple NCI programs, including the Clinical Proteomics and Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC), the National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN), and the Applied Proteogenomics OrganizationaL Learning and Outcomes (APOLLO) network.
  • has contributed to over 3,200 peer-reviewed publications, master’s theses, and doctoral dissertations.
  • has enabled the development of 36 U.S. patents and three FDA-approved medical devices.
  • supports an average of 30,000 global users monthly, with nearly 5 petabytes of data downloaded annually.

NCI’s Cancer Imaging Program, in the Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis, funds TCIA.
