Cancer Health Equity Visioning Workshops
Data scientists—do you have ideas on advancing research to accelerate progress toward cancer health equity?
NCI invites you and people of various specialties, interests, and pursuits to attend this series of virtual workshops for exploring novel research ideas and journeys toward sustainable solutions for cancer health disparities (CHD).
You and fellow participants will explore unique research opportunities that are best addressed by working collaboratively and advancing new approaches that cut across disciplines to tackle the complex nature of CHD and accelerate progress towards cancer health equity for all populations, both locally and globally.
NCI organizers designed these dynamic workshops, or “minilabs,” to be intense, interactive, and free-thinking. The second minilab stage, titled “Ideation,” will build upon the outcomes of the first minilab stage, titled “Visioning.”
Visioning Minilabs
In this first stage, you and the diverse participant community will engage in small discussions to ideate and share new ideas around novel research approaches. Registration is free and open to anyone interested in either exploring CHD complexities or contributing to new CHD research journeys. You’re encouraged to attend all three sessions as the successive sessions build on the previous ones.
- Session 1 | Thursday, August 31, 2023, 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. ET
- Session 2 | Wednesday, September 6, 2023, 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. ET
- Session 3 | Friday, September 8, 2023, 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. ET
The registration deadline for these Visioning Minilabs is August 24, 2023.
Ideation Minilabs
In the second stage (which will be comprised of five workshops), you and peers will refine your ideas from the Visioning Minilab into strong themes and opportunities that can serve as the foundation for new research directions in the science of CHD. If you apply and NCI selects you to participate, you’ll be involved in additional cross-discipline discussions and contribute to a series of white papers summarizing the themes and opportunities for broad dissemination. Organizers will be opening the application for the Ideation Minilabs soon, and sessions will be held starting in January 2024. (Final dates and times are to be determined.)
