As a clinical research informatics specialist at CBIIT, Dr. Nelson oversees several clinical informatics and data science projects that utilize machine learning and large language models (LLMs) to advance clinical trials research for NCI. She collects and utilizes data from multiple sources including devices and wearables, clinical and research data, and open-source data to (1) advance ground-breaking ways to streamline clinical trials research and reporting, (2) develop and train LLMs, and (3) harmonize data using standardized terminologies and common data elements.
