NIH Issues RFI for Input on “Search” Capabilities That Could Enhance NIH-Wide Data and Information Discovery

NIH seeks input via this Request for Information from all interested stakeholders (including cancer researchers, data scientists, and IT developers) to enhance NIH-wide data discovery and its re-use. More specifically, NIH would like to better understand stakeholders’ experiences and expectations in searching—“search” being defined as a capability either currently provided by web search engines or extending beyond search engine functionality—for data and information that would greatly enable their research capabilities. Along with prior efforts, the information gathered is intended to inform and frame the discussions for an NIH-supported workshop in January 2022.

For more information on this RFI, please visit the NIH grants webpage. Responses are due December 3, 2021.
