The NIH Common Fund's Harnessing Data Science for Health Discovery and Innovation in Africa (DS-I Africa) Program recently published four Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs). These FOAs are designed to support data science and innovation research hubs focused on addressing health problems in Africa; developing data science training programs; creating research projects that examine ethical, legal, and social implications of data science research; and developing an open data science platform and coordinating center.

The new FOAs are as follows:

• Harnessing Data Science for Health Discovery and Innovation in Africa (DS-I Africa) Research Hubs (U54 Clinical Trial Optional) (RFA-RM-20-015)
• Harnessing Data Science for Health Discovery and Innovation in Africa (DS-I Africa) Research Training Program (U2R Clinical Trial Optional) (RFA-RM-20-016)
• Harnessing Data Science for Health Discovery and Innovation in Africa (DS-I Africa): Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications Research (U01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) (RFA-RM-20-017)
• Harnessing Data Science for Health Discovery and Innovation in Africa (DS-I Africa) Open Data Science Platform and Coordinating Center (U2C Clinical Trial Not Allowed) (RFA-RM-20-018)

In addition, the DS-I Africa Virtual Symposium Platform, which is a collection of online events and networking tools, will be open from July through November 2020. Use this online resource to:

• watch keynote videos from leaders in health and data science.
• participate in interactive panel discussions about the funding opportunities, cross-cutting opportunities and challenges in data science, and specific scientific topics.
• meet and network with potential partners from academia, government, the private sector, and NGOs in the DS-I Africa Virtual Forum.
• request a telephone or video conference consultation with NIH staff.
