Apply Now for Scientific Computing/Informatics Staff Scientist Role at NIH NIDA
NIH’s National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), a sister institute of the National Cancer Institute, is hiring a Staff Scientist/Facility Head to direct and manage a shared Scientific Computing and Informatics Core (SCIC) within its Intramural Research Program (IRP).
A successful candidate will have proven work experience in the following areas:
- data management and data governance
- IT management
- budgeting
- establishing a programmatic approach towards IT service and customer relationship management
- cyber and network security administration
- scientific computing
- machine learning, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing

The SCIC is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s IT, including its infrastructure, systems, network, devices, and telecommunications resources at multiple sites. The SCIC provides basic IT and bioinformatics support to the NIDA IRP, compliance and adherence to NIDA and NIH Office of the CIO Policies and Procedures, while working with the local scientific community to provide advanced computational needs supporting current along with future endeavors.
