Apply for Data Ecosystem Leadership Role at NIH’s National Library of Medicine

The National Library of Medicine (a sister Institute of NCI) is seeking a creative, forward-thinking individual to serve as Director of its National Center for Biotechnology Information and Associate Director for Scientific Data Resources. In this position, an individual will provide scientific and operational leadership to a key node in the digital biomedical ecosystem.

The role requires a recognized leader in the development, delivery, use, and analysis of large-scale data repositories/resources in support of scholarly communication. Moreover, the ability to negotiate data sharing and data protection agreements relevant to biological data sharing is key. Additionally, the individual will:

  • oversee research, development, and deployment of advanced computational solutions to meet life science information needs.
  • facilitate open science and scholarship through a growing array of data, literature, and other information products and services.
  • lead approximately 700 federal and contract employees with a budget of about $150 million.
  • work closely with other members of leadership, other federal agencies, and the biomedical research community to understand and address priorities from molecular biology to public health.
