Apply to Be an NIH DATA Scholar at NCI—Application Deadline Extended to June 8

Are you an experienced data/computer scientist or engineer? Apply by June 8 to work with NCI as an NIH Data and Technology Advancement (DATA) Scholar to create multi-modal cancer data integration solutions from cross-atlas data sets. Dr. Jay G. Ronquillo, NCI’s current NCI DATA Scholar, described his experience during the program as, "a unique opportunity for data scientists and informaticists to help shape high-impact biomedical research initiatives, including for cancer and precision medicine."

In collaboration with the NIH Office of Data Science Strategy, NCI is seeking a data scientist in creating multi-modal cancer data integration solutions for cross-atlas data sets. The DATA scholar will work on integrating large-scale single-cell omics and imaging data from multiple platforms, including NCI’s Cancer Research Data Commons, and developing novel tools for analysis and visualization of cross-atlas data. They will also document cross-atlas integration and development strategies that may be published.

The one- to two-year position will begin remotely but may transition to the Maryland or North Carolina campuses later.

To apply for this position, you should possess:

  • an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree and have advanced experience in data science or related fields.
  • technical skills in areas such as AI, cloud computing, data engineering, data science, database management, project management, software design, supercomputing, and/or bioinformatics.
