Updated Human Cancer Models Initiative Catalog Highlights GDC Data

The Human Cancer Models Initiative’s (HCMI’s) Searchable Catalog now has new features that allow users to easily locate models and their case-associated data in the Genomic Data Commons.

HCMI is an international collaboration between NCI, Cancer Research UK, Wellcome Sanger Institute, and Hubrecht Organoid Technology. HCMI’s goal is to create up to 1,000 next-generation cancer models from patient tumors that are annotated with clinical, biospecimen, and molecular characterization data.

As of February 16, 2021, quality-controlled and harmonized clinical, biospecimen, and molecular characterization data for 63 models from 62 cases are accessible in NCI’s Genomic Data Commons (GDC). Highlights include:

  • a case that has multiple models derived from primary and metastatic ampulla of Vater cancer.
  • molecular characterization data that consists of RNA-sequencing, whole-genome sequencing, whole-exome sequencing, copy number variation, and masked somatic MAF data.

The HCMI’s Searchable Catalog has also been updated with various interactive features. Learn more about these program updates and new features of the HCMI Searchable Catalog.
