New FOA Seeks to Grow Genomic Data Analysis Network
NCI’s Center for Cancer Genomics is developing a highly coordinated and comprehensive network of investigators and associated institutions involved in collecting and sequencing biological data to aid genome-wide analysis of cancer-relevant alterations.
A new Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), “Genomic Data Analysis Network: Genomic Data Analysis Center (U24 Clinical Trial Not Allowed),” is soliciting applications for highly collaborative Genome Data Analysis Centers that will form the Genomic Data Analysis Network.
The goal is to make use of the full scope of technologies employed today in investigations of the genome, epigenome, and transcriptome. Through this latest FOA, NCI hopes to obtain comprehensive genomic information on multiple tumor types to catalog most, if not all, of the genomic changes associated with cancer and correlate the molecular data with clinical parameters and outcomes.
By tapping additional individual projects in cancer research and garnering the support of NCI’s existing research programs, NCI expects to accelerate the identification of markers for preventing and diagnosing cancer, and to identify novel targets for developing more effective therapies. Ultimately this will provide a more complete clinical understanding of how patients will respond to therapy and help advance the goals of precision medicine.
Applications are due Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Learn more about this funding opportunity.
