NCI CRDC Imaging Data Commons Team Wins Certificate of Merit Award for Educational Poster Exhibit at RSNA 2019

The NCI Cancer Research Data Commons’ (CRDC) Imaging Data Commons (IDC) team received a Certificate of Merit award for its educational poster exhibit at the 105th annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).

The IDC team winning poster, led by Andrey Federov, an NCI Informatics Technology for Cancer Research (ITCR) investigator, outlines the IDC and its place within the CRDC. The IDC contains multi-modal imaging data mostly from The Cancer Imaging Archive (TCIA), but unlike TCIA, the data will be stored in the cloud. It will be built on Google Cloud and Google Healthcare (GH) platforms through the NCI Cloud Resources using the Open Imaging Foundation (OHIF) for image visualization. Because of its place within the CRDC, IDC data will be able to be aggregated with other data types, allowing researchers to drive discovery with more integrative analysis.

The IDC is led by a consortium of investigators from the Department of Radiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. It is funded by the Cancer Moonshot℠ in support of the National Cancer Data Ecosystem and has an estimated launch date in mid-2020.
