Feedback Needed on USCDI+ Cancer Registry Data Element List

If you use cancer registries, the Assistant Secretary for Technology and Policy (ASTP) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) want to hear from you to help define new data standards!

These data standards help the ASTP and ONC support data sharing and linkage programs, including NCI’s Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program. Your input ensures that cancer registry data is interoperable with data collected for clinicals, public health, and research.

To leave your feedback, you must create an account with the USCDI+ Platform. Submit your feedback by Monday, September 23, 2024.

ASTP and ONC seek input on the:

  • core set of data elements in the USCDI+ Cancer Registry.
  • importance of each of these data elements.
  • ease of collecting these data elements from the Electronic Health Records (EHR) and pathology labs.
  • burden of collecting these data elements electronically.

The USCDI+ Cancer Registry use case addresses delays in facilities reporting data to cancer registries. These delays can disrupt the data availability by up to three years. USCDI+ Cancer aims to identify standards for efficiently extracting and collecting cancer registry data directly from EHRs and pathology labs. This helps the ASTP and ONC make cancer registry data collection better and faster for early incidence reporting.
