NCI is participating in a Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) designed to provide supplemental funds to eligible, active grantees who have developed data assets of value to infectious and immune-mediated disease research. Data assets primarily focused on cancer research and that demonstrate value to infectious disease research qualify. Awarded funds will support administrative tasks related to preparing data for inclusion in the NIAID Data Ecosystem. The first available application deadline is February 13, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. (local time of applicant organization).
Refer to the NOSI for full details on submission information and eligibility criteria.
Examples of projects that might be candidates include:
- data repositories.
- data management and coordination centers.
- projects that create unique data sets.
By offering supplemental funding for the completion of necessary administrative tasks, NIAID supports the goal of broader data sharing among the research community. The NIAID Data Ecosystem is a data discovery portal that indexes structured metadata from a broad range of repositories. The ecosystem also offers a cloud-based workspace. The anticipated public launch of the NIAID Data Ecosystem is next year.
Applicants can request up to one year of funding support. For additional information on eligibility and how to apply, visit the NOSI.
