In this position, you’ll report directly to the NCI Deputy Director for Data Science and Strategy. Your responsibilities in this role include (but are not limited to):

  • providing leadership and oversight of NCI-wide data science and informatics.
  • overseeing NCI systems that manage clinical trials data.
  • managing a budget of approximately $240 million dollars.
  • overseeing a workforce of approximately 90 employees and more than 600 contractors who provide NCI with information technology (IT) support, biomedical research informatics, and software infrastructure.
  • participating in NCI research initiatives.
  • interfacing with relevant research communities as a representative of NCI.
  • working to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

In addition to having a health science or allied science-related doctorate degree (M.D. or Ph.D.), you should have:

  • relevant experience operating a large biomedical research organization. 
  • strong knowledge of data science tools and methodologies, informatics, cancer research, computer science, IT, and cybersecurity. 
  • experience collaborating across government agencies, academic, industry, and private sector interests.
