Biography

Prior to joining CBIIT, where he also serves as co-chair of NCI's Informatics and IT Advisory Group, Dr. Carl McCabe coordinated IT and informatics activities in NCI's Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics. Dr. McCabe initially came to work for NIH as a Presidential Management Fellow in the NIH OD's Office of Extramural Research. Dr. McCabe's background is focused on the evolutionary biology of human social behavior, and his activities have always been interwoven with Linux and code (R, PHP, Python, Perl, C++, etc.). He received his doctorate in evolutionary anthropology from the University of California, Davis. Dr. McCabe was deeply involved with development of software and databases for administering interactive, multi-subject behavioral experiments using conceptual frameworks borrowed from behavioral and experimental economics.
