An Ideas Lab is an intensive 5-day program for 30 participants (with a range of expertise and experience) to deepen their shared understanding of a complex challenge, redefine the problems within the challenge, and generate innovative ideas for research proposals. This Ideas Lab will focus on the creation of "digital twin technology."

NCI's Office of Cancer Clinical Proteomics Research (OCCPR) released two new videos on post-translational modifications and bioinformatics as part of the "Principles of Proteomics" Series.

The PDC is a next-generation proteomic data repository within NCI’s Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC) with corresponding genomics and imaging data sets to enable data access, analysis, and sharing for integrative research.

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), in collaboration with the NIH, FDA, VA, and other stakeholders, developed the “National Health IT Priorities for Research: A Policy and Development Agenda.” The Agenda articulates a vision of a health IT infrastructure that supports alignment between the clinical and research ecosystems allowing research to happen more quickly and effectively. Collaborators from each of these agencies, including CBIIT Director, Dr. Tony Kerlavage, describe the importance of this comprehensive and coordinated action in a newly published article, “Leveraging the Health Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure to Advance Federal Research Priorities.”

Investigators with a wide variety of expertise, including, but not limited to, cancer biology, oncology, machine learning (or other AI), cancer systems biology, or mathematical modeling are encouraged to apply to attend the 2020 “Advancing Cancer Biology at the Frontiers of Machine Learning and Mechanistic Models” Innovation Lab.

The NIH Office of Data Science Strategy is pleased to announce the Data and Technology Advancement (DATA) National Service Scholar Program, a new opportunity for experienced data and computer scientists and engineers to tackle biomedical data challenges with the potential for substantial public health impact.

Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research requests proposals to develop a query engine called the Cancer Data Aggregator (CDA). The CDA will allow users to aggregate data via queries across the Human Tumor Atlas Network, the NCI Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC) nodes, and other Data Coordinating Centers and repositories with which NCI plans to interoperate.

The Metadata Automation DREAM Challenge is now open for registration. Using structured biomedical data files, Challenge participants will develop solutions that apply existing research data annotations to help automate the annotation of metadata fields and values.

The NCI Genomic Data Commons (GDC) data release 22 is now available and includes data from the Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC) Glioblastoma Multiforme Discovery Study and CPTAC-3 miRNA sequencing data.

Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology contributors, with a team led by Science Program Analyst Denise Warzel, collaborated with fellow NCI colleague Dr. Paula Jacobs of the Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis and others on a recently published article, “Call for Data Standardization: Lessons Learned and Recommendations in an Imaging Study.”
